A drive-in latch, also known as a round face latch (RFL), is very easy to install. It can be tapped directly in the latch bore, also known as the edge bore, without additional chiseling and without the need for a separate faceplate. The edge bore is typically a 1” hole drilled from the side of the door into the cross bore where the lock body is installed.
